Bernadette and the Rite of Passage staff, I want to thank you for the care you provided
during my pregnancy and birth of Connor Alexander. Even though our experience was not
exactly as planned, I appreciate that you allowed me to try to my physical limits, and was

Throughout the entire birthing process, I felt confident in what I was doing and how I was
laboring. Connie contributed a great deal by encouraging me with a constant calm
demeanor. She never had a sharp tongue or a nervous attitude, and her gently guidance
kept me focus on the goal of seeing my baby instead of the pain. Once James arrived and
it was clear his passages ways were flooded with liquids, it never occurred to me to worry.
Bernie, my husband was freaking out and my mom was praying, but I knew you knew what
to do. So until I saw my husband's face, I was calm knowing he was in your hands.
Though it is a common occurrence and you're trained to handle everything that comes your
way, it is not beyond a sliver of gratitude- thank you for saving his life, for caring , and
for doing all that you do. I've never met a stronger woman than you, Bernie. You surely

Making the decision at 24 weeks to switch to Rite of Passage from the hospital we were
using was probably the best thing I did for myself and our son during my pregnancy. From
the moment we walked through the front door, Tim and I felt so welcomed and at home.
The fact that you took 30 minutes of your time to visit with us was wonderful. We had not
received that much time with a doctor in all of our visits at the hospital ...and we weren't
even your patients yet! It did not take much discussion after we left that day to decide to
switch my prenatal car to you and deliver our baby at Rite of Passage.
I enjoyed every time I got to tell someone that I was using a birthing center, not a hospital.
The look on their faces was usually questioning and doubtful, but I knew that we had
made the right decision for us. Those who were inquisitive were impressed at how "at
home" I felt every time I came for a check-up. Thank you for making your center feel like
a home to me and Tim. The Sunday morning we came in for the was the most relaxed
atmosphere. I'm so glad Dominic decided to arrive on a weekend, because we enjoyed just
being with you and basically having the center to ourselves. I can only imagine how it
would be in a hospital.
Thank you for all of the coaching and support you gave me when I was in labor. I trusted
you so much, and you didn't let me down. Your demeanor was exactly what I wanted and
needed. I appreciate the professionalism you gave during and after birth. I never doubted
that everything was going to be fine, and I was right.
Thank you also for taking all of our late night phone calls before labor. Most people
don't come across as so helpful at 3am on a Saturday morning. We appreciate all of your
help after the birth as well. Your home visit was much-needed, and it was another great
perk of Rite of Passage.
Everything was great; no complaints. Tim and I look forward to another great delivery in
a couple of years or so.. though, I think I'm ready to go again if it happens sooner.
