Bernadette assisted with the birth of my first baby in February of 2004. I was all set on
having an all natural water birth and that is what I did. She and my other midwife made
me as comfortable as possible while in labor. The quick thinking and deep knowledge of
what they were doing was incredible. They made sure that my husband was totally
involved and talked him and I through everything. Never once did I feel like I had chosen
the wrong birthing method. I felt safe and I trusted this incredible moment to them. If I

We were so grateful to be able to birth at Rite of Passage. When we moved to the area at
the beginning of my third trimester already I was extremely concerned, because I'd had
natural childbirth in a hospital with my first and just did not get the birth I wanted. I did
not want to go down that road again. But as soon as we met Bernadette, both my husband
and I were totally comforted and our decision was made. We loved the personal attention
we received throughout the rest of my pregnancy and felt we were not just numbers but that
Bernadette really addressed our concerns and questions. Kaleb was born in the water and
the whole experience was truly beautiful. My husband said watching Kaleb emerge
underwater with his eyes open and swimming was surreal. He felt the whole thing and
especially his supporting role was so much better than our experience with the hospital, and
I agree 110%. I would love to birth at Rite of Passage with Bernadette again and
